Gasharu Coffee, nestled along Lake Kivu, embodies a rich history starting with a determined 14-year-old in 1973. Today, it strives to be a model for Rwandan farmer-owned coffee businesses, investing in both quality and community. Elevated terrain and a favorable climate at 1,650-2,100 masl create an ideal environment for diverse coffee types, including the carefully collected and sorted "Isoko" lot. Dried on raised beds for 4-6 weeks, the beans are skillfully processed by women farmers and packed in GrainPro and jute bags. This lot, meaning "Source" in Kinyarwanda, encapsulates the essence of Rwandan coffee, while Gasharu's Rugori program aims at sustainable business and community well-being.
